As he awaited Dave’s reply, he let a hand drop, idly petting the short haired feline. The cat simply stretching out and moving closer to her owner, not only loving the attention but attempting to comfort him while he was in this state. It was how she always reacted. Every time John had woken up from the nightmare, Landry was there, ready to help him through the night.
“I really miss them, Landry..” He muttered, leaning back against the headboard of the bed and letting out a sigh. Jade, Rose, and all the trolls. He barely had any contact with any of them after the session had ended, them effectively beating the game. At first, he had begged Karkat to help him find the MIA Dave, and only after a good two days did he agree. Obviously…
His phone vibrated, and he only rushed to open it, eyes reading over the text and a relieved sigh left him. This Dave was safe. No. It was just Dave.
Dave was safe. But from what it seemed, he was having a hard time dealing with the storm. That was extremely uncharacteristic of him, but John didn’t have any room to judge. This was a different Dave than the one that he was used to. An idea popped into his head and he all too quickly responded:
‘do you need a distraction? i can make my way over if you want. i’m having problems sleeping myself..’
His music hummed in his mind, distracting from the clattering behind him. The storms reminded him of his homeless days, sitting under the bus stop with chattering teeth as he held himself closely. The thunder in the glass box was more than unsettling.
His phone vibrated again, opening up the massage from John with slight hesitation. His eyes hovered over the message for a few moments as he read the text over and over, again and again. Make my way over. That sounded like a nice idea actually.
He pounded a reply, a quick, “uh yeah sure if you want” before tucking his arms close to himself. A safety mechanism he practiced in times of high stress. He held back a cry as the rain pounded against his window, threatening him with no remorse.
“John, hurry”
